The Alliston Family

The Alliston family have been here this week - they have placed a beautiful plaque for their parents - Eleanor and John. They moved here in 1951 and lived and worked here for over 50 years. Pictured left to right Warwick, Ingrid, Venetia and Robert.

The "kids" have had a wonderful week remembering their lives here - happy memories, favourite spots on the island, great company and just enjoying being here together again.

It has been a priviledge to be here to share such a special time with them.

  1. It's nice to hear this news; I read and reread Escape so many years ago and often wondered. How handy the internet is! Great to know one can visit the island, and super to have "seen" the family as they were on their visit.

  2. In 1993 my husband and I had the honour of meeting with Mr & Mrs Alliston on the Island. It is an event that holds great memories for us and I just happened to come by this site with your photo and send our regards and love to you. Brian and Debbie Avery

  3. I saw a wonderful documentary many years ago on ABC. Then coincidentally stayed at the island in 2008. Is the documentary available anywhere online?

  6. Alan Whicker's 2009 "Journey of a Lifetime" features the Allistons at the end of the series on disc 3.

  8. A lovely piece on the Allistons who both passed away 2003-4. Whicker's (d.2013) final reflections in "Journey of a Lifetime" (2009) set of three dvd's worth a look and still available to buy.
